Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement, Explained.

We are leaders in minimally invasive hip replacement surgery in the UK, particularly using the Direct Superior Approach (DSA). This advanced technique is an evolution of traditional hip replacement methods, designed to minimise tissue damage and accelerate recovery. A world of difference!

What is the Direct Superior Approach (DSA)?

What is the Direct Superior Approach (DSA)? The Direct Superior Approach is a muscle-sparing technique for hip replacement surgery. Unlike conventional posterior or lateral approaches, our approach allows access to the hip joint without cutting key stabilising muscles or tendons. Instead, the surgeon makes a small incision just behind the hip, carefully working around essential structures rather than through them.

Unlike conventional providers, we invest in advanced techniques for your accelerated recovery. Choose better—choose Optimised Care.

Benefits of Our Advanced Technique.

Our advanced approach avoids cutting the gluteus maximus and external rotator muscles, which are crucial for hip stability. This leads to better long-term function and reduces the risk of post-operative limp.

1. Faster Recovery. By preserving key muscle groups, patients experience significantly less post-operative pain, reduced swelling, and quicker return to mobility. Many patients can walk unaided within days of surgery.

2. Reduced Risk of Hip Dislocation. We maintain natural hip stability, lowering the risk of dislocation compared to traditional surgical approaches. This allows for greater confidence in movement after surgery.

3. Improved Aesthetics. The incision we use is typically shorter and more discreet, reducing visible scarring and promoting faster wound healing.

4. Quicker Return to Normal Activities. You will be back on your feet hours after surgery, with full mobility within days following surgery- returning to work, driving, and even engaging in sports sooner than with traditional hip replacement techniques.

We believe everyone deserves access to advanced, minimally invasive surgery - without the long wait, and at an affordable cost.

That's why we have pioneered the minimally invasive surgical technique with meticulous design- because health isn’t negotiable. No shortcuts, no trade-offs—just faster healing and uncompromising results.

FAQ's

We hope these frequently asked questions helps you to make a confident decision.

Your dedicated Patient Co-ordinator is on-hand to answer any questions you have.

Good candidates for hip replacement surgery are individuals who experience severe hip pain that interferes with daily activities and has not improved with non-surgical treatments. Common conditions include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and hip injuries.

The longevity of a hip replacement varies, but on average, a new hip can last in excess of 20 years. Advances in materials and surgical techniques continue to improve the lifespan of hip implants.

To ensure the best outcome, follow your surgeon’s pre- and post-operative instructions carefully. Engage in prescribed physical therapy, maintain a healthy weight, avoid high-impact activities, and attend all follow-up appointments.

Hip implants are typically made from durable materials such as metal alloys, ceramics, and high-grade plastics. These materials are designed to provide long-lasting performance and reduce friction within the joint.

The cost of a hip replacement procedure can vary widely depending on factors such as the type of implant and the surgeon’s expertise. On average, the cost ranges from £13,000 to £18,000 in the UK. Speak to your Patient Co-ordinator about finance options.
